Camp On The GO

Camp On The Go offers a comprehensive and educationally enriching summer program to children ages 6 to 13 years old. The program offers academic enrichment activities. Field trips are taken daily to provide adventurous experiences where students learn about the heritage and history of Washington, DC. Students also participate in activities and workshops facilitated by specialists in art, music and other forms of creative expression, environmental education, life skills training, civic education, computer technology chess and science designed to improve self-esteem and personal awareness through the engagement in challenging activities to broaden their awareness of the world in which they live.

Participating in academic enrichment for some children can be challenging during their summer break. Therefore, we intend to keep our activities fun and engaging. Also, we ask that you stress to your children the need for continuous review of their school subjects during the summer. Our goal at Camp On The GO seeks to prevent our campers from returning to school behind the curve as some might experience after a long vacation. We want our campers to be at the head of the class when they return to school in the fall. Although our enrichment activities are a very important part of the program, our summer will not be all work and no play.

Welcome to Camp On The GO 2012. We are very happy you chose our program for your child/children this summer. We are looking forward to working with you and our campers. As always our goal is to provide a safe, educational and enjoyable camp experience. In order to execute our goals, we will need help from you. We have enclosed some important materials pertaining to our camp program so that you will know exactly how to assist us in making this the very best summer for your child.

Safety is if utmost importance at YOUR. We have taken the necessary steps to ensure your safety at the Center, on trips and during breakfast and lunch everyday. Our staff members are CPR/First AID certified; the staff who will oversee breakfast and lunch have been food safety certified; and all of our counselors have experience working with campers and taking trips with large groups.

This summer, your child will be enriched in the following subjects: mathematics, life issues, sports conditioning, social studies, keyboarding, creative writing, cooking, arts & crafts, reading, performing arts and cultural awareness. You will find our schedule attached. Please keep in mind that some of our outings are subject to adjustments due to the weather forecast.

The campers will be keeping a daily journal that should detail the enrichment and the trip that the camper participated in each day. We are asking you to provide a marble composition notebook for your child to use to journal. Your child’s journal will be stored in a central location at our center making the easily accessible for you to read. We also recommend that you encourage journal writing at home in a separate journal. We believe that journal writing coupled with your review will strengthen your literacy skills.
